Permanent Cosmetics Info

Why get permanent cosmetics?

Permanent cosmetics not only gives you more time in the morning, but is long lasting and you will never have to worry about smudging or rubbing off your makeup off while swimming, sweating, or enjoying a late night dance party. Those with cosmetic allergies may also find relief in cosmetic tattooing. It is also beneficial for those who can not apply makeup due to blurred vision, dexterity issues, arthritis, or a simple lack of ability. For up to date, fresh results, a 21 month- 18 month refresher is recommended for most.

Why Choose The Beauty Den?

You have location options! Take a load off and come to a tranquil cottage in the heart of Matakana, see Suz in Warkworth from her studio (Bardot & Brando) or request a service from the comfort of your home! Advanced training from one of the leaders in the industry, Daria Chupry, in the USA has given Suz DeNeen the confidence and skills to implement top techniques for permanent cosmetics. The Beauty Den's point of difference is the strict health and safety regulations and licensing of the United States that is carried over to a more lenient New Zealand. Not to mention, with attention to detail and a no rush policy, you are in excellent, steady hands with Suz.

Your artist

Suz DeNeen is passionate about enhancing natural beauty! She studied cosmetology in New York City and began her career in a bustling, high end, boutique hair salon in the heart of the Lower East Side. After 8 glorious years, she moved to New Zealand in 2017 and settled in Matakana shortly after. She is fully trained and qualified in the artistry of permanent makeup for brows and eyeliner (manual & machine method), as well as in tattoo removal. Suz traveled back to the United States for her training from world renowned, Daria Chupry, in Beverly Hills, Los Angelos, USA in late 2017. She meets the criteria for Occupational Health and Safety administration (OSHA) and all means are taken to prevent any cross contamination of blood borne pathogens (BBP) and maintains a BBP certification in LA, USA (NZ does not require such certifications but she feels it is of most importance).

The process

With each set of unique eyes and eyebrows, a detailed and thorough consultation is the first step. For approximately an hour, Suz will take the time necessary to consult, answer questions, precisely measure, and perfect the desired overall shape of brows or eyeliner. It is important to cross check with you every step of the way (there's no such thing as being too picky) before committing to anything. Once you are happy with the shape, the topical anesthetic (Lidocaine) is applied and after 15-30 minutes, the session begins; all the while reapplying to stay on top of any discomfort. The experience is comfortable as you get to relax and enjoy the tunes played or bring your own audio book/ playlist with you. Upon completion, you are given an opportunity to make minor adjustments then aftercare is discussed. 'Dry healing' for 10 days is recommended to minimize the risk of infection and allowing the body to do its job. Suz is available any time of day/night for support along the way. 2 weeks later, you come back and meet Suz at Bardot & Brando Hair Studio in Warkworth, for a wash and blowout. This is an opportunity to assess the 1st session, take a photo and schedule the 2nd session.

The 2nd session is much like the 1st and you get another wash and blowout at Suz's hair studio as well as a final photo. For most, that's a wrap and a yearly touch up is planned at a lower rate. *Depending on skin, health, and aftercare, a 3rd session may be helpful in securing pigment and holding shape. Permanent Cosmetics is a multi step process. Due to the uniqueness of everyone's skin, some will have amazing results within the first session and the pigment will hold very well. With others, the skin will retain small amounts of the pigment and will need the refinement session(s). To achieve the best result, 2-3 sessions will reach dreamy goals.
